The AX-40 Axe Jig lets you sharpen all types of axes with maximum precision. Heavy duty composite jaws securely hold your axe for consistent, no-slip sharpening. The two stops allow sharpening heads of various sizes and shapes, and the creation of concave, convex, or even flat grinds.
Holds Wide Range of Axes
The Tormek AX-40 Axe Jig will holds axes of many sizes. It will accommodate axe heads from 110mm (4 3/8") to 220mm (8 5/8") long, and 10mm (3/8") to 40mm (1 5/8") thick.
Easy to Use
The AX-40 Axe Jig is very easy to use. Insert your axe between the jaws of the jig, and tighten the clamping knobs to hold it securely in place. Integral stops on the jig register on the Universal Support of your Tormek for precise control. With your axe firmly held in place, when one side is done, just flip the jig over to sharpen the other bevel for a symmetrical edge.
Concave, Convex, Even Flat Bevels
The two stops on each of the jaws of the AX-40 Axe Jig offer the ability to create multiple types of bevel grinds. When a single stop is used while sharpening on the edge of the grinding wheel, a concave, or hollow, grind is achieved.
Smoothly curving convex grinds can be created by letting the jig slide on universal support between the two supports while sharpening. Many axe users prefer this grind, and now it is easy to achieve.
And when combined with the MB-102 Multi Base and one of the Tormek Diamond Grinding Wheels, the AX-40 Axe Jig can create a fully flat bevel.
Whether you are chopping trees, splitting firewood, carving spoons, or any of the myriad uses axes can be put to, with the AX-40 Axe Jig, you can customize your edge to your specific needs.
